The Chicago Alliance for Visual Artists (CAVA) presents our Winter Exhibition 2024 at the Zhou B Art Center.
Gallery Hours: Tuesday to Friday 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m;
Saturdays if there are no private events. Hours are subject to change.
AWARDS: Exhibiting artists will be eligible for the following prizes:
Best of Show: $200 | 3 Awards of Excellence: $100
3 Honorable Mention Awards: Blick Gift Card
Juror: Nicole Murray, Owner/Curator of The Kulture Museum, Chicago, IL
CATEGORIES:
Drawing, painting, printmaking, mixed media, collage, photography, fiber art, and 3D objects, sculpture, and ceramics, that can be wall hung. Artists must provide their own pedestals.
ELIGIBILITY: This exhibit is open to artists 50 and over. You must also be a member of CAVA.
ENTRY FEES: Entry fees are not refundable and acceptance into the show is not guaranteed.
>> Member entry fee is $30. CAVA members may submit up to two works with one entry fee.
>> Non-members may enter for $30, but must also pay CAVA's annual membership fee of $50.
All fees are payable at www.WeAreCava.org.
MEDIA REQUIREMENTS:
1. All work must meet professional presentation and framing standards.
2. 2-D work must be framed or gallery wrapped, wired, and ready for wall mounting.
No alligator/sawtooth hangers are permitted.
3. 2-D must not exceed 50 inches in either direction, INCLUDING THE FRAME.
4. 3-D work must be wired and ready for wall mounting, OR fit on a pedestal provided by the artist.
Sculptures must be able to be moved by one person.
5. Work may not have been shown in any previous CAVA art shows.
HOW TO ENTER:
1. Use CAVA's EntryThingy online application below to enter your work.
2. Digital images should be a minimum of 1500 pixels on the longer dimension in .jpg .png .gif format.
3. Online submission deadline: Wednesday, December 17, 2023 11:59 p.m.
4. Members can pay the $30 entry fee via the PayPal button here.

NOTIFICATION OF ACCEPTED ARTWORK: Tuesday, December 26, by 11:59 p.m.
DROP OFF: Tuesday, January 9, 2024; 11:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m.

EXHIBIT OPENS: Monday, January 15, 2024 6:00–10:00 p.m.
OPENING RECEPTION: Friday, January 19, 2024, 7:00–10:00 p.m.
3rd Friday FEBRUARY RECEPTION: Friday, February 16, 2024, 7:00–10:00 p.m.
FINAL DAY OF EXHIBITION: Saturday, March 3, 2024
ARTWORK PICK UP: Tuesday, March 5, 2024 11:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m.
Artists are responsible for on-time delivery and pick up of their art.
All work left beyond the pick-up date is subject to a $10 daily storage fee.
ZHOU B GALLERY HOURS: Tuesday to Friday 11:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m; Open on Saturdays if there are no private events. Hours are subject to change.
LIABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Submission of work for this exhibit will be construed as acceptance of all conditions set forth in the Call for Entry. CAVA reserves the right not to display work that does not meet exhibition standards or the terms of this CFE. Reasonable precautions will be taken to safeguard artists' work from damage; however, neither CAVA nor
Zhou B Art Center, nor its supporters, volunteers, subcontractors, nor any of the participating agencies or businesses will be responsible for the loss or damage of artwork for any reason. CAVA requires that all exhibitors sign a release form; forms will be available at the drop-off location and may also be downloaded from wearecava.org.
ARTWORK SALES AND COMMISSIONS:
Zhou B Art Center will take a 30% commission. Please price your work accordingly. CAVA will manage and complete any sale of work sold during 3rd Friday events. CAVA will collect tax from the buyer, and send it to the state and deduct a 4% processing fee from the price of the artwork.
